Marion Cirella, 104, of Gloucester, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Boston on November 21, 1911, daughter of the late Michael and Annunizata (Latassa) Cirella.
She was a longtime business owner of Maryann’s Beauty Salon in Magnolia.
Marion loved helping people, especially her brother. She got him enrolled at the New England Conservatory of Music, which enabled him to have a fantastic career.
She had a love for music, having sung in many choirs all of her life. She was very fortunate to have sung at the Principal Mass at St. Peter’s in Rome and also at many concerts in Milan, Florence and Assisi. Marion also traveled extensively all around the world.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Anthony Cirella Sr. and his wife Mary Lee of Natick; nieces and nephews, David Cirella of Natick, Anthony Cirella Jr. of Magnolia, Anne Cirella Mitts of Newport, N.H., Michael Cirella, Phyllis Cirella both of Medford and Michael Molloy of Mexico; grandnieces and grandnephews, Jessica Giberson of Sunapee, N.H., Christina Cardwell of Weare, N.H., Michael Murphy, Bianca Barrett and Matthew Barrett all of Newport, N.H., Vanessa Cirella of Woburn, Jenna Manos Cirella of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Thomas Molloy III of Ohio and Laura Molloy Shaikh of Belmont; her loving sister-in-law and caregiver, Cecile Cirella of Gloucester; her niece-in-law, Brenda Molloy of Westminster, MA and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Cirella, Lawrence Cirella; her sister, Mary Molloy and nephew, Thomas A. Molloy.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester, on Saturday, July 23, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Saturday morning in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
