Mark A.'s Story

Gloucester - Mr. Mark A. Gossom, 59, of Gloucester passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at home with his loving family at his side. He was the best friend and loving husband to Shelly (Campbell) Gossom, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage and 40 years of friendship.
Mark was born July 9, 1958, in Gloucester. He is the son of Gilbert and Nancy (Little) Gossom of Gloucester. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1977.
Mark also attended Northern Essex, Salem State, and North Shore Community College.
Mark was a Mechanical Inspector for CPI in Beverly for several years. He previously worked at Bomco in Gloucester for 18 years.
He and Shelly enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods. Mark also enjoyed golfing, hiking, running, and working in his yard.
In addition to his loving wife Shelly and his parents, Mark is survived by his daughter, Gloucester Police Officer Kelly A. Gossom; his son Andrew M. Gossom, both of Gloucester. His brother Gilbert Gossom Jr. and his wife Debbie of Rochester, N.H.; his three sisters, Jennie Albert and her husband Jay, Rebecca Fitzgerald and her husband Joe, and Michelle Gossom, all of Gloucester. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law Douglas and Madeline (Palazola) Campbell of Gloucester; his sisters-in-law Annette Campbell and Larry Ingersol, Diane Horne and her husband Scott, Linda Gross and her husband Robert, and Gina Campbell-Provost and his brother-in-law Douglas Campbell Jr., all of Gloucester. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mark’s funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In keeping with Mark’s wishes there will be no visiting hours and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations in Mark’s memory may be made to Pappas Center for NeuroOncology (glioblastoma research), c/o Development Office.
