Mary (Favazza) Carl, 82, of Gloucester, wife of the late Robert Carl, passed away peacefully in the Golden Living Center, with her family at her side, on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017.
She was born in Gloucester, on April 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Lucido) Favazza. Mary attended Gloucester schools and was employed for many years at Gortons of Gloucester where she worked until her retirement. While working there she was quite active in the UCFW, United Commercial Food Workers Union, attending all their meetings. During her retirement, she enjoyed travelling, taking cruises with her loving daughter Claudine Laurie and with her dear friend, Pat Frontiero. Mary was a member of St. Ann’s Church and belonged to Our Lady of Good Voyage Guild. While living at Sheedy Park for many years, she loved socializing with all the tenants there and they all became her friends. Mary will be missed by all who knew her. She loved all her caregivers at Golden Living Nursing Home, where she had lived for the past two years. Mary is survived by her daughter, Claudine (Carl) Laurie of Gloucester; her special nephew and godson, Michael Lane, of Rockport, who took compassionate and loving care of her; her sister, Gaye Lane and her husband, Leland of Gloucester; her brothers, Jackie Favazza of Peabody and Sam Favazza of Salem; her nephews, Peter Lane of Rockport, Richard Lane of FL, Mark Favazza, and his wife, Carolyn of Groveland, Joseph Favazza, and his wife, Christine of Gloucester and several grand nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Carlo Favazza and his wife, Betty.
