Mary E.'s Story
Mary E. Feener, 90, of Gloucester passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 30, 2016. She was born on July 15, 1926, to the late Walter and Mary Redding of Gloucester. She was married to and predeceased by the late Richard H. Feener of Rockport. Mary was also predeceased by her daughter, Sharon E. Feener; and brother, Walter Redding. She is survived by her loving son, Thomas S. Feener; and sister, Dorothy Quigley; grandchildren, Nimai Kasecky and his wife, Annie, Mirabai Kasecky, Nakula Kasecky, Kuma Kasecky, Alyssa Belgard and husband, Travis, Jessica Unis and husband, Mark, Megan Feener and her mother, Maura; great-grandchildren, Melina, Leilani, Monty, and Braylen; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from St. Ann's School with the Class of 1944. She worked at Elm Farm, presently Shaw's, and as a bookkeeper at North Atlantic Seafoods and Greycliff nursing home, presently Golden Living. Mary loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox defeat the Yankees in the 2004 playoffs and go on to win the World Series. She was a caring and generous person whose greatest love of all was spending time with her family and loved ones.
A visiting hour from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017, followed by a Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery on Poplar Street. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to American Diabetes Assoc., 10 Speen St., 2nd floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
