Maryanne (Gibbons) Michel, 60, of Gloucester, wife of Kevin Michel, passed away with her devoted family at her side, on Friday morning, July 28, 2017.
Maryanne was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on February 26, 1957, the daughter of the late Harry and Josephine (Towler) Gibbons. She graduated from high school with honors and continued her education at Emmanuel College in Boston where she received a Bachelors in Art with a concentration in Art Therapy. She spent years working in Chile in an orphanage, counseling, leading and guiding girls under 18 years of age. She was extremely proud of her work there. Maryanne was a woman of many talents. She could have a stranger laughing like an old friend after a few minutes of talking, and she loved to listen to people tell their stories. She was an oil painter, and color was everywhere in her work, not only in her paintings but her sewing, quilting, and flower gardening. She loved animals, enjoyed cooking, watching movies and dancing. An exceptionally caring lady with an infectious laugh, she will be missed so much by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her daughter, Melissa Michel and her wife, Kelly Faulkner of R.I.; her son, Paul of Gloucester; five sisters, Kathleen Gibbons of Florida, Christine Sosa and her husband, Alex of Newburyport, JoEllen Gibbons of FL, Maureen Higgins of Boston, Jackie Amero and her husband, Jeff of Rockport; one brother, Jimmy Gibbons of Andover; Uncle Tom and Aunt Trudy Stumpf of Staten Island, N.Y. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Gibbons.
