Melvin F. "Mel"'s Story
Melvin F. “Mel” Dawe, 58, of Orlando, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2017 in Florida.
Mel was born December 9, 1958 in Gloucester. He was the son of the late H. Melvin and Barbara A. (White) Dawe. He resided in Florida for over 30 years and previously resided in Gloucester. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
Mel worked as a packer at a newspaper company in Orlando for several years. He previously was a Machinist.
He was a kind man who was always willing to help a friend out. He and his father were former members of the Sportsman club. He also enjoyed fishing.
Mel is survived by his sister, Linda A. Corliss of Gloucester; two nieces, Christie Fahey and her husband, Dustin of Arizona and Jamie Corliss and her husband, Paul Durgin of Gloucester; a nephew, Jonathan Corliss and his wife, Rebecca of Japan. He is also survived by four great-nieces and nephews, Selphie, Tyler, Dreya and Kylie.
Mel’s graveside service will be in the Wesleyan Cemetery Wheeler St. Gloucester on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers donations in Mel’s memory may be made to the Gloucester United Methodist Church, 436 Washington St. Gloucester, MA 01930.
