Mr. Michael D. Schmorrow, 72, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Lahey Clinic Burlington following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Marilyn A. (Thompson) Schmorrow, with whom he shared more than 45 years of marriage.
Michael was born November 23, 1944 in Gloucester. He was the son of the late James and Georgianna (Porter) Schmorrow. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools.
Michael was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for Good Harbor Filet for several years until his retirement.
Michael was an avid bowler he also enjoyed camping, playing golf, boating and watching TV. He was a dedicated Patriots and Bruins fan. Michael especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Michael D. Schmorrow, Jr. and his wife, Dana of Lynn, and Mark S. Schmorrow and his fiancee, Laurie Moon of Ipswich. Michael is also survived by his two cherished grandsons Michael D. Schmorrow, III and his fiancee, Melissa Martin of Gloucester and James Schmorrow of Lynn; and his three great grandchildren, Michael, IV, Aiden and Morgan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Michael’s visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Followed by a Prayer Service at noon. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Michael’s name to the Stop ALD Foundation, at www.stopald.org.
