Michael Johnson, 57, of Gloucester passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 27, 2017, in his home. He was the husband of Michelle (Ek) Johnson.
Michael was born in Gloucester and he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Butters) Johnson. He attended Gloucester High School.
After caring for his father in Maine and Arizona, he stayed in Arizona for years. He had a passion for the study of the “Lost Dutchman’s Mine." He coauthored a book with his brother, Bill, called “Spirits in the Mountain” about their journey in search of the “Lost Dutchman’s Mine."
Michael also loved dealing with antiques and had a store in Gloucester years ago. He was a great cook and was known for cooking up a smorgasbord of food on holidays for to share with his family. He had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh and joke with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his son, Michael Johnson II; a daughter, Megan Johnson; a step-daughter, Brianna EK; siblings, Walter Johnson, Patricia Barry and Katherine Keefe of Gloucester, and William Johnson of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
