GLOUCESTER: Michael Lentini, 83, husband of the late Catherine A. "Katie" (Scuderi) Lentini, of Gloucester, died peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born in Marsala, Sicily on February 25, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Maria Lentini.

Mike worked as a baker most of his life. At age 10, having to help support his family while his father was in the war, he went to work with his grandfather. In the mid 50s, he spent two years in the Italian Air force and was honorably discharged in 1955. He met and married his beautiful wife in 1958 and immigrated to the US. Mike continued his baking career, in several cities and states, when in 1970 with his wife, Katie opened Mike's Pastry in the West End, where they enjoyed baking and socializing with their many customers and friends. Mike enjoyed vacationing, building things in his garage, riding his bike, working outdoors, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the St. Peter's Club and the Moose Lodge for several years. In 1998, he received the commendation from the City of Gloucester for his service to the community and was published in Who's Who. Mike later retired in 1999. Mike had a big heart and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Michael J. Lentini Jr. and his wife, Rosalie of Gloucester; two grandsons, Michael C. Lentini and Joshua A. Lentini both of Gloucester; brothers, Francesco Lentini and his wife, Rosetta of Australia, Girolamo Lentini and his wife, Caterina of Gloucester; two sisters, Josephine Scuderi of Gloucester, and Antonina Azzaro of Revere; sisters-in-Iaw, Rosa Lentini of Sicily, Rose Bertolino of Gloucester; brothers-in-law, Roy Scuderi and his wife, Anna of New Hampshire; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
