Nancy L. (Parsons) Stambaugh, 78, of Rockport, wife of the late Donald Stambaugh, passed away on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017, in the Den Mar Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rockport.
Nancy was born in Gloucester on September 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Gladys P. (Elwell) Parsons. She was a graduate of Rockport High School and continued on and received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She moved to Sugarloaf in the Florida Keys, with her husband and resided there for 30 or so years. She received the Honorary Conch of Key West certification which was bestowed upon a person who was a longtime resident. She was very proud of the award. Nancy and her husband were extremely active as members of the Power Squad, a boating organization that promoted boating safety. Some days were spent on the water, powering out to small islands for a leisurely picnic lunch with lots of friends. They also traveled a lot, domestically, with trips through a local travel agency and had boated up the Mississippi River. Her “Book Club” friends would exchange bags and bags of books; and since she loved reading, biographies, and her favorites, romantic novels, there was an endless supply. She later moved to Rockport where she has lived for 20 plus years. Nancy is survived by her son Karl Muller and his wife, Jennie A., their children, Issabella, Sophie, Rachel and Gabriel, all of Va.; her brother, Roger Parsons and his wife, Barbara and their children, Roger Parsons Jr. and his wife, Lynn and their children, William and Corey, all of Ipswich, Mass.
Nancy’s graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in Beech Grove Cemetery, Prospect St., Rockport. Family and friends are cordially invited. There are no visiting hours.
