Norman A.'s Story
Norman A. Burnham, 77, of Essex passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, at Care One at Essex Park.
Born in Gloucester on March 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Newell and Florence (Mitchell) Burnham.
Norman had attended Gloucester schools and Essex Agriculture School. He later served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.
For most of his life, Norman had worked as a clammer and also at Rule Industries.
Norman was an avid fisherman, sports fan and especially loved boxing. He enjoyed attending his niece's and nephew’s sporting events, reading and gardening. Most recently, Norman liked watching Dancing with the Stars.
He is survived by his siblings, Geraldine Giles and husband, Leroy of Virginia; Mary Jane Muise and husband, Jerry; Eleanor Cole; Virginia Sulton and husband, Jack; Paul Burnham and wife, Ann, Brenda Harell and companion, Ronald Feener; Wayne Burnham; special niece and nephew, Kristen and Douglas Burnham; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Newell and James Burnham and brother-in-law, Philip Cole.
Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, greatly appreciated donations can be made on a Go Fund Me page for Norman found on Facebook to help pay for funeral services. Memorial gathering for friends and family to be announced in the spring.
