Pamela Lucille (Tarr) Schwartz, 72, of Gloucester, wife of Lloyd W. Schwartz, passed away at Addison Gilbert Hospital, with her loving family at her side, on Monday evening, June 12, 2017.
Pam was born in Gloucester on April 11, 1945, the daughter of the late Arthur C. and B. Lucille (Meuse) Tarr.
She graduated from Gloucester High School with the class of 1963. She continued her education and training at Northeastern and Addison Gilbert Hospital in Radiologic Technology. Some years later she completed an associate degree at North Shore Community College. Her career spanned 42 years at Addison Gilbert Hospital and several orthopedic offices. She was very involved in many organizations, including Business and Professional Women’s Foundation of Massachusetts and Cape Ann, where she was president. She was a historian for the Daughter’s of the American Revolution; she taught in the CCD program at St. Ann’s and Sacred Heart Churches for 18 years as well as being a lector for 10 years. Pam attended sporting events and theatre arts programs for her grandchildren. She and Lloyd traveled to Europe on many trips with the high school as chaperones. She enjoyed tracking down her family’s genealogy and loved reading and politics. She enjoyed knitting and made wonderful sweaters, blankets, etc. for her family and friends. Her longtime friend, Ann Margaret Ferrante summed up her friendship as this; “...I will always remember Pam for indulging my love of politics. Always willing to debate an issue willing to cut through the nonsense. She was a true supporter of women in elective office and in general, and a believer in equity.” Most of all, her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life and she was blessed to be around them as much as she could. She will be lovingly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; her son, Joel W. Schwartz and his wife, Christine of Groveland; two daughters, Rachel J. Schwartz and her significant other, Aaron Burchfield, Lauren L. Orlando and her husband, Mark, all of Gloucester; two sisters, Patricia J. Parisi and her husband, Paul and Paula M. Bolcome and her husband, Alfred, all of Gloucester; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Marisa and Dylan Orlando, Katie, Mikaela, Elana and Tyler Schwartz; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins, as well as lots of lifelong friends.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, Gloucester. Family and friends are cordially invited. There are no visiting hours and her burial will be held privately.
