ROCKPORT- Patricia M. Trafton, 89, of Rockport, wife of the late Willard C. Trafton, passed away peacefully, on Monday afternoon, February 19, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rockport on May 10, 1928, daughter of the late William and Vencie (Cooney) Grier.
Patricia was a graduate of Rockport High School, Class of 1946. She later attended North Shore Community College, receiving her Associate degree in Accounting in 1992.
Pat worked for the Rockport National Bank in the Bookkeeping Department for many years. After retiring from the bank, she worked part-time doing office work for Poole Construction Company.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was above all else a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Pat had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed lots of laughs around the dinner table as her children were growing up. As her children became adults, she was a friend and advisor helping to smooth over the rough times and sharing in the happy times. She made everybody feel welcome in her home. She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vencie Anderson and husband, Glenn and Virginia Trafton all of Rockport; two sons, Willard Trafton and Steven Trafton both of Rockport; and her son-in-law, Stephen D. Abell, Sr. also of Rockport; her grandchildren, Amanda (Morse) Pearson and husband Scott of Hudson, N.H., Jason Morse and wife, Juliet of Topsfield; Lesley Anderson and Bradley Anderson of Rockport; Stephen D. Abell, Jr. and wife, Kate of Rockport; Brian Abell and wife Shawnna of Beaufort, SC; and her great-grandchildren, Brendan Gillespie of Hudson, N.H., Taylor and Nicole Morse of Topsfield; Sammy Morse of Milliken, CO; Tyler and Sean Abell of Rockport; Emily Abell of Mt. Carmel, IL; Ella Wedgewood of Beaufort, S.C., and Krystal Haynes and husband, Cody and their daughter, Olivia, her great-great-granddaughter all of Amory, MS.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Evelyn (Trafton) Morse and Mary (Trafton) Abell; and two brothers, William and John Grier.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A private graveside service will be held in Beech Grove Cemetery at a later date.
