ROCKPORT, MA - Peter G. Ryan, 77, of Rockport, wife of the late Beverly (Bolton) Ryan, passed away in the Beverly Hospital on Friday morning on March 9, 2018. Peter was born in Gloucester, Mass., on March 31, 1940, the son of the late Paul Milton and Catherine (Pierce) Ryan Sr. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the class of 1958. Peter drove for Hood for over 45 years. He started back when the milk was in bottles, covered with ice shavings. He delighted the children on his route, in the summer, by making snow balls out of the ice and giving it to the kids. He played basketball and got the name of "Pistol Pete," being named after one of the players on the Celtics. He enjoyed coaching Pee Wee football for the East Gloucester Vikings for numerous years. Peter and Bev looked forward to vacationing in St. Croix for years, as well as having their children join them. They would go in November during the Thanksgiving holiday and stayed at Smuggler's Cove. He was a golf fanatic, playing at the Rockport Country Club for the past 15-plus years with all of his close friends, and also at the Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester, where he was a member for many years prior. He was also a member of the Elks for over 55 years where he met with many of his numerous friends and had many laughs. But above all else, he loved his family dearly and he will be lovingly missed by them all. He is survived by his four children, Peter G. Ryan Jr. and his wife Flavia of Rockport, Colleen and Dean Nicastro of Malden, Mass., Timothy Ryan of Gloucester and Thomas Ryan of Fla.; also his 10 step-children, Mariane Pruneda of N.C., Robert Bolton of Calif., Mike Boutchie of Mass., Beth Framson of N.Y., Christine Bailey of Vt., Wendy Crear, Christopher Kariores, Daniel Kariores, Michael Kariores, and Lisa Kariores of Mass., a brother Timothy Ryan and his wife Emmy of Gloucester; and his grandchildren from Rockport, Savannah Ryan, Joshua Silva and Jordan Fournier whom he spent many of his days with, Christina and Anthony Nicastro, Elizabeth Mellissa, Kenneth, Kayla, Kennedy, Finley and Charlie Ryan; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen Ryan, and his brother Paul Ryan Jr. His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, Mass. Family and friends are cordially invited. His funeral service will be held from the Greely Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, at 8:30 a.m. followed by a mass being celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, Gloucester.
