Peter J. Tarantino
Peter was born July 29, 1935, the son of the late Isadore and Francesca (D'Anna) Tarantino. He attended school in Gloucester. Peter fished with family starting on the St. Victoria. He married and stayed in Gloucester for a couple of years, then lived in Detroit, Michigan for a time. Peter returned to Gloucester and was dedicated to his family, and lived there through his retirement.
You could find him at the St. Peter's Club and he always enjoyed the Fiesta. He was a life-time member of the Moose and a member of the Elks Lodge number 892. He enjoyed socializing and playing darts, scrabble and cribbage, to name a few. Spending time at the Senior Center he also took trips to the casino regularly. He attended Our Lady of Good Voyage Parish in Gloucester and part of the Holy Name Society.
His daughter Theresa Haggett, her husband Michael Haggett, and Maryssa Haggett, Kayla Haggett, greatly loved grandchildren, all will miss him very much. He is survived by Marianne Oshiro, Frances Jean Alexander, nieces; Gino Soper, Paul Soper and John Tarantino, nephews; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Francesca Spain, and sons Isadore Tarantino and John Vince Tarantino. Also four siblings, brothers John B. Tarantino, Vince (Jimmie) Tarantino; sisters Anne Soper and Frances M. Tarantino.
The family wants to thank Northern Light Home Care and Hospice and the staff at Huntington Commons for such understanding time and care.
A visitation will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA, on Saturday, April 13, 12 to 1 p.m., with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Friends and family are cordially invited. His burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester, at a later date.
Donations can be made in his name to the Salvation Army and Northern Light Home Care and Hospice Foundation, 43 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412. These are non-profit organizations dedicated to serving and providing all those in need.
