ROCKPORT, MA - Philip Stephen Havran, 84, of Rockport, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, following a long illness.
Phil was born in Boston, Mass., on November 29, 1933, son of the late Philip and Catherine (Moore) Havran, and grew up in Rockport.
Philip earned a B.S. in Communications at Boston University and then entered Officer Candidate School in 1956 to specilalize in public relations for the U.S. Navy, earning the rank of Lieutenant J.G. He left the Navy in 1961 to work in public reations at Massport.
Philip was predeceased by his son, Stephen. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Suzanne of Portsmouth, N.H.; and grandchildren, Gretchen and Caleb of Portsmouth, N.H.
His memorial service will be open to the public at the First Congregational Church of Rockport on Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow at the church. Burial will be held privately.
