Richard H.'s Story
Mr. Richard H. Doucette, 64, of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday May 14, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 22, 1951 in Gloucester, son of the late Lester and Laura (Brown) Doucette. He was a life long resident of Gloucester, a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1969.
He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the United States Air Force.
Richard was a Cab Driver in Gloucester for many years and also worked on the waterfront.
He was a Patriotic man a member of the Doucette-Linguard V.F.W. Post 1624. He was an avid golfer and was very involved at the Rose Baker Senior Center where he enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and bingo. He loved football and was a New York Giants fan as well as a Red Sox fan.
Richard is survived by stepchildren that he treated as his own children, Corey Miller and his wife, Sherrie of Georgia, Lara Billante of Gloucester, Lindsay Dort of Gloucester, Melissa Lauer of Lakeland, Fla. and Amy Lauer of Lynn, his devoted caregiver and friend, Lee Enes of Gloucester. He was the last survivor of his 10 siblings. He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren which he enjoyed bragging about and many nieces, nephews as many brother and sister-in-law.
He was predeceased by his former longtime companion, Julie Sossamon.
Richard’s visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. Graveside Services will be on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave (Route 133) Gloucester at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
