Richard Perruzzi

March 22, 1936 - July 29, 2018

Richard Perruzzi Gloucester, MA - Richard Perruzzi, 82, husband of Deborah (Nute) Perruzzi of Gloucester, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Beverly Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Woburn, Mass., on March 22, 1936, son of the late Carmen and Celesta (Grazioso) Perruzzi. Dick was a graduate of Lynn Vocational High School, excelling in their machining program. He started his company, PMS Manufacturing Products in 1960 and continued to go to work every day saying he’d just be bored retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening in his hydroponic greenhouse, playing computer games, and traveling to his favorite gambling spot, Mohegan Sun with his wife and daughter to play a good game of poker. He was a man of many talents, that being said, he was a class A fencer and participated in various tournaments as a young man. He was a certified archer and loved racing auto cross as well as collecting exotic cars. He loved sports cars and could be seen on Sunday mornings speeding down Western Ave. in his Corvette to Donut Jims. When he set his mind to project he was tenacious about completing it. He was particularly proud of a Shelby Cobra replica that he and his sons built. He was a past President of the Cape Ann Sportsman Club, where he was a certified pistol instructor. He took great pleasure in watching his grandson’s baseball games and looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with his family. He especially liked making pizzagaina at Easter time with his mother’s “secret” recipe. He enjoyed playing poker with the Unis brothers on Wednesdays for their weekly card game. For the past 30 years he hosted the wild Perruzzi family reunions at the compound in Gloucester. He flew twice in his life and claimed “I won’t be doing that again,” but enjoyed traveling by train or car to Atlantic City and Disney World. He enjoyed a fine glass of wine and good cigar, his witty sense of humor and spirit of living life to the fullest will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deborah Perruzzi of Gloucester; his daughter, Cheryl Favaloro and her husband Sam of Gloucester; two sons, Scott Perruzzi and his wife Debra and Dayne Perruzzi all of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Marae Perruzzi, Sam Favaloro, Tyler Favaloro and Andrew (Aj) Perruzzi; two great-grandchildren, Chase Lakeman and Arielle Richardson; three step-granddaughters, Brianna and Nicole Gerrior and Katelyn Lee; his brother, Ken Perruzzi and his wife Shirley of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Dan Perruzzi and his wife Dolores Perruzzi; sister Rena Clinton; brother-in-law David Nute; and his step-grandson, Corporal Steven Gerrior, USMC.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 19, at Cruiseport Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA 01930. For online condolences, please visit www.greelyfuneralhome.com.
