GLOUCESTER: Robert A. “Apples” Aptt, 69, of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, September 27, 2015.
Bob was born on July 19, 1946, son of the late Noel and Alice (Freitas) Aptt.
He had attended St. Mel’s School and was an altar boy at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
As a young man, Bob worked at Seafood Kitchens and later at LePage’s as a mechanic, until his retirement. He had also worked part time at Sudbay Motors.
Bob was known to always be a very happy-go-lucky guy, who had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Monday Night League at Cape Ann Golf Course. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, playing cards at the St. Peter’s Club. He was a lifetime member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Belanger and husband, Gary; his son, Aaron Cranston and wife, Mandi; grandchildren, Jamie Rynkowski, Alexander and Joshua Cranston; wife, Deborah Kincade; and former wife, Linda Decaro; sister, Linda Dumais and husband, Bob; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A graveside service will be held in Beechbrook Cemetery on Thursday, October 1, at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lanes, Gloucester, MA 01930.
