GLOUCESTER - Robert Anthony Catalini, 84, loving husband of Barbara Catalini, passed away early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018. Originally from Linden, New Jersey, Bob spent most of his life residing in Gloucester.
Bob graduated from Gloucester High School, class of 1951. He worked in the family oil business, Davis Fuel, for 60 years as well as a brief time working as a lobster fisherman, and alongside his father shoveling coal. He was a loving father to Barbara's six children, whom he raised as his own. He spent his life taking care of people in the community, always willing to help those in need, and making sure no one went cold in the winter. He enjoyed spending his time with his family as well as dancing the night away with his leading lady. He enjoyed trips to the white mountains with his grandchildren as well as teaching every one of his granddaughters how to waltz. He lived for moments spent with his whole family, between holidays, birthdays, and any excuse for a celebration. You could often find him humming a tune, and always trying to bring a smile to anyone's face who was having a bad day. He would spend hours doing work around the garden and singing along with the birds. He lived his life to always serve others.
He was predeceased by his two parents Basil and Edna (Thomas) Catatlini; four sisters, Diane, Gloria, Marilyn, Judy; and one brother, Basil. He is survived by his wife Barbara Catalini of Gloucester; his four sisters Daisy Oliver of Gloucester, Shirley Edmonds of Gloucester, Nancy Bateman of Salisbury, and Natalie Roeder of Nashua, N.H. His six children, Leo Francis of Gloucester, Mike Francis of Lynn, Brian Francis of Corning, N.Y., Chris Francis of Manchester by the Sea, Ann (Francis) Parisi of Gloucester, and Pamela (Francis) Scott of Hooksett, N.H. His 12 grandchildren, David, Chris, Patrick, Ashley, Katerina, Nicholas, Zachary, Lacey, Victoria, Olivia, Simon, and Shelby, as well as many great-grandchildren. His life is celebrated, and he is loved by all.
