Robert A. Hawes

April 24, 1951 - March 08, 2019

Robert A. Hawes Gloucester - Robert A. Hawes, age 67, died March 8, 2019, at Seacoast Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was husband of the late Susan (Julian) A lifelong Gloucester resident. He was the son of the late Orrin and Antoinette (Orlando) Hawes. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1971
Mr. Hawes worked at Gorton's for over 20 years as a sawman and foreman. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and quite the history buff teaching the kid's way more than any textbook could. He enjoyed his morning coffee time with his daughter and loved his "crazy" granddog Lily. He was a terrific cook as verified by his grandsons' stomachs, former Governor of the Moose Lodge #1471, but most of all he loved his family and we loved him back dearly.
Surviving him is a daughter, Jennifer Schmorrow of Gloucester; two brothers Thomas Hawes of Gloucester, Ronald Hawes and his wife Susan of Georgetown; a sister, Debra Hawes of Gloucester; two grandsons, James Schmorrow, Michael Schmorrow III and his fiancée Melissa Martin; three great-grandchildren, Michael IV, Aiden, Morgan; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, friends, and one great-nephew.
The family would like to take this time to thank everyone who reached out during these most difficult past two weeks. Also, our love and gratitude to the Moose Lodge, Pace Element Care staff, especially Anne, Beauport Transport and his favorite driver Linda, and Jim Milone who was his caretaker, aide, and friend.

His visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Moose service will be held during the visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the Cape Ann Animal Aide, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
