Ronald's Story

Mr. Ronald W. Pereen, Sr., 80, of Essex passed away on Saturday evening, May 6, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband to Joyce E. (Wood) Pereen with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Ron was born July 21, 1936 in Gloucester. He was the son of the late John E. Pereen, Sr. and Dorothy E. (Sargent) Pereen. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School. Ron and Joyce have resided in Essex for the past 52 years and previously resided in Gloucester.
He served with the National Guard for several years.
Ron worked as a Warehouse Foreman for Americold for over 20 years until his retirement. After retiring Ron worked as a Custodian at Essex Elementary School. He previously worked at Gorton’s in the Trucking division for many years.
He was a longtime active member of the Trinity Congregational Church where he also served as a Deacon for six years as well as assisting at the Cape Ann Thrift Shop. Ron will always be remembered as a kind and helpful person. Helping others was his greatest joy. Ron also loved animals, including his cat Samantha and his son’s dog Cesar. Ron was a member of the Teamsters Union.
In addition to Ron’s loving wife, Joyce, he is survived by their children, Lisa J. Reis and her husband, Judson of Gloucester, Ronald W. Pereen, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Sewell, NJ and David O. Pereen and his wife, Ruth of Essex. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Corinne Rowe of Tennessee and Lauren Pereen of New Jersey, his two nephews, Edward and Douglas Pereen and his niece, Dottie Milano.
He was the brother of the late John E. Pereen, Jr.
Ron’s Funeral Service will be in Trinity Congregational Church, 70 Middle St., Gloucester on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Ron’s memory may be made to Trinity Congregational Church, 70 Middle St. Gloucester, MA 01930, Cape Ann Animal Aide, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930 or the Essex Fire Company, 24 Martin St. Essex, MA 01929.
