GLOUCESTER- Rosa L. (Loiacono) Grillo, 86, wife of the late Bartolo Grillo passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 1, 2018 at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.
She was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy on July 22, 1931 daughter of the late Guiseppe and Grazia (Favazza) Loiacono.
Rosa worked as a seafood packer for many years at Seafood Kitchens/O'Donnell Usen. She later worked at Seacoast in the housekeeping department. Rosa loved traveling, especially to visit her family in Sicily, Detroit and Florida. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.
Rosa and her husband had a passion for wine, which intrigued them to start making their own. She loved being with family especially her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy.
You would always see her with a smile, telling a good joke and she just had such a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rosa is survived by her children, Provvidenza Lucido and her husband Dominico of Michigan, Grace Napoli and her husband Salvatore of Gloucester, Anna Alves and her husband Lester of Michigan, Elizabeth Margiotta and her husband, Charles of Gloucester, Girolamo Grillo and his wife, Linda, Joseph Grillo and his wife Maria all of Gloucester; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Vincenza Loiacono and her husband, Salvatore, Caterina Brancaleone and her husband, Antonio, all of Terrasisi; brothers, Nino Loiacono and his wife, Agatha, Salvatore Loiacono and his wife Vincenza, all of Terrasini, Matteo Loiacono and his wife, Francesca of Gloucester; many nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters and brothers-in-law.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Catherine Grillo; grandson, Richard A. Alves; sister, Antonia Gallina and her husband, Ceaser and brother, Vito Loiacono.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 a.m. A visitation will be held in the church prior to the mass on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, will be held on Monday, March 5, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester following the Mass.
