Rosalie F. "Lee"'s Story

Rosalie F. “Lee” Harty of Gloucester passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the Golden Living Center of Gloucester after a period of declining health.
Lee was born May 12, 1927 in Gloucester, daughter of the late Abel and Frances (Mesquitte) Doucette. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester, a graduate of Gloucester High School. She went on to further her education at Lasell College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Rosalie worked as a Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 20 years retiring in 1992. She previously worked for ACTION.
She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. Lee especially loved her family and cooking, she was often the host for the family Sunday dinner’s. She was a singer and sang with Kate Smith in New York. She was an accomplished Ice Skater and was an avid Skiier and a member of the Ski B Club. She was Miss March of Dimes and was involved in community auditions as a young girl. Lee was active at the Rose Baker Senior Citizens Council on aging for over 25 years. She had a heart of gold and would buy clothes and food for homeless people. She also enjoyed knitting stockings.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters Sandra L. Lucero and her husband, Vince of Radcliff, Kentucky and Sharon L. Bertolino and her husband, Salvatore of Gloucester. Also survived by her three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lee’s Funeral will be from the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 8 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Prospect St. Gloucester at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be in the Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid 4 Paws Lane Gloucester, MA 01930.
