Skip Hart, brilliant software engineer, rock and roll fan, free spirit, loving father and grandfather passed away on Friday at his home in Gloucester. He was 67.
Skip was an avid supporter of the vibrant live music scene in Gloucester. The camaraderie and enthusiasm for music he shared with fellow fans and musicians was one of the great joys of his life.
Skip attended Upper Darby High in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1967.
After moving to Needham, Skip built a career in software working throughout the 1980's at Cullinet Software. Without any formal higher education Skip became a prodigious technical problem solver. After his tenure at Cullinet he continued building software most notably at Phase Forward and Oracle.
Skip was infinitely proud of his family. He leaves behind Gloria Hart, his son, Jamie Hart, son and daughter-in-law, Chris Hart and Jenny Hart; his treasured grandchildren, Sydney, Jaimie and Ethan, his mother Eleanor Hart, sister Nancy Hart Shean; brother, Ken Hart and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Norm Hart. His spirit and joy for life will live on within his entire family and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Skip’s visitation on Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, beginning at 10 a.m. His Memorial Service will be in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m.
