ROCKPORT - Thomas Augustine O'Keefe III, 76, of Rockport, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Tom was born in Salem, Mass. on November 6, 1941, the son of the late Thomas A. O'Keefe Jr. and Ellen (Harney) O'Keefe. He attended Proctor Academy and graduated from Beverly High. He attended St. Anselm College and Boston College.
Tom began his career at Ris Paper Co. and Rapids Furniture Co. For the last 45 years he has lived and operated an independent interior design practice in Annisquam and Rockport. He belonged to the Annisquam Yacht Club, was a past president of The Leonard Club, curator of the Annisquam Historical Society, a coordinator of the Annisquam Sea Fair, past president of the Cape Ann Art Association and a member of the Gloucester Historical Commission.
He is survived by his brother Peter O'Keefe and his wife Jeanne; nephews, Peter O'Keefe Jr. and his wife, Kerry and their children Timothy and Colin, Marybeth O'Keefe wife of his late nephew, Patrick and their daughter, Millie; nieces, Katherine Frascella and her husband, Christopher and their children Alice and Lou, Meaghan O'Keefe, Elizabeth VanAlstyne and her husband, Andrew and their children Shayla, Lucy and Julia. He was predeceased by his close friend, Kurt Bradley.
His visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Friday, January 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joachim's Church, 56 Broadway, Rockport. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice or to one of the aforementioned clubs or organizations that Tom belonged to.
