Tracie L.'s Story
Gloucester - Tracie L. Gilliss, 47, of Gloucester, wife of Richard Santos, passed away in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, on Wednesday morning, May 9, 2018.
Tracie was born in Gloucester, on November 21, 1970, the daughter of Eileen (Mitchell) and the late Michael Gilliss. She graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1988 and furthered her education at Burdett Secretarial School. She most recently worked as a manager and bartender at the restaurant, 7 Central, in Manchester-By-The-Sea. When she was young she loved riding on the motorcycle with her dad. She rode all the way back from Florida one year and even slept on the way. Tracie had traveled quite extensively, with her husband throughout Mexico, Dominican Republic, Oregon, California, Italy and got engaged in Jamaica. She also travelled to Las Vegas with friends and family for her wedding. When she was in high school she went on the Austria trip with the senior class and went to Paris with a close friend. She was a staunch supporter of the “Relay for Life” and truly loved fundraising for “Team Smitty”. She loved baking and her tempting desserts were always a hit. She had a great memory and she never, ever let a birthday or anniversary go by without a phone call or a text. She was a St. Peter’s Club member for three years and loved hanging out with her close knit friends. Not only will her friends and family miss her, but her two Yorkies, Izzi and Ruby know that something is not quite right. She is survived by her husband, Richard Santos; her daughter, Hannah Verga; her mother, Eileen Mitchell; 2 sisters, Michelle Nickerson, Cherie Cote and her husband Paul Jr. and their children, Nicholas and Jessica; brother-in-law, Anthony Santos and sister-in-law, Karen Ancas and their children, Jan and Eva; many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Michael Gilliss; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Mitchell; paternal grandparents, William and Norma Gilliss and niece, Lea Santos.
