Vincie's Story

GLOUCESTER: Vincie A. (Catania) Turner passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 14, after a long illness. Vincie was the loving partner of Emiliano Capone, with whom she shared 50 years of companionship.

Vincie was born in Gloucester on May 27, 1940, daughter of the late Michael and Sarah (Aiello) Catania.

She attended St. Ann’s Grammar School and Gloucester High School.

Vincie loved to dance, go to the beach, and travel.

She was a member of the Mother of Grace Club, the Legion of Mary, and the Seafood Retirees. She loved the New England Patriots, was a huge fan of Tom Brady, and faithfully watched them on game day.

In addition to her loving partner, Emiliano Capone, she is survived by her daughter, Christine; her son, Michael and his two children, Caitlyn and David; her eight sisters, Catherine Randazza, Grace Veerman, Mary Favazza and her husband, John, Jeanette Fournier, Pauline Pelosi, Vita LeFavour and her husband, John, Joyce Curcuru and her husband, Mike and Roseanne Catania. As well, she leaves her two brothers, Frank Catania and his wife, Gaye, Joe Catania and his wife, Debbie. She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews.

Vincie was predeceased by her younger sister, Vincie Catania; and her brothers-in-law, Sam Randazza, Armand Fournier, Bill Hopkins and Sonny Pelosi.

Vincie’s Funeral will be from the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, September 17, 2015, starting with a time of visitation beginning at 8 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Prospect Street on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be at Holy Cross Mosoleum in Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Vincie to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
