Virginia's Story

GLOUCESTER - Virginia M. (Polizzia) Frontiero, 89, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Frontiero who died in 2006.
Born in Gloucester on October 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Frontiero) Polizzia. She was a generous, well known and loved member of the Gloucester community. She offered years of dedicated service to local groups and organizations, including, Mother of Grace Club, Madonna del Rosario Society and the Rose Baker Senior Center.
She was also Past-President of Seafood Retiree's and an active volunteer along with her daughter at the Cape Ann Thrift Shop.
Virginia was once employed for the Manchester-by-the-Sea public school system and Mighty-Mac of Gloucester. She also loved organizing many senior bus trips to Foxwoods. She will be remembered by the countless friends, family and neighbors to whom she devoted herself, offering her time, talents and love.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Roseanna and John Mattson of Beverly; two grandsons, Anthony "Tony" Mattson and his companion, Mary and Michael Mattson and his wife, Samantha; two sisters, Sandra "Santa" Parisi and Laura Orlando; three brothers, Joseph "Joe" Polizzia, Paul Polizzia and his wife, Donna and John Polizzia; many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and godmother to the many extended members of the Polizzia and Frontiero families. She was also predeceased by her two granddaughters, Melissa Ann Mattson and Gina Marie Mattson and her sister, Rosalie Polizzia.
