Wayne S.'s Story
Wayne S. Johnson, 63, of Essex, Mass., husband of Diane (Wallwork) Johnson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Wayne was born in Gloucester, Mass., on March 9, 1954, the son of the late Clarence W. “Pic” and Ruth (Keane) Johnson. He attended Gloucester High School and continued his studies at North Shore Community College, earning his Associates in Radiology. After a few years he became Head of Radiology at Addison Gilbert Hospital. Wayne had fishing in his blood. He loved bass fishing with his son and brothers and tuna fishing with his friend, Dana Kangas. If he wasn’t fishing, he was thinking about fishing or getting ready to go fishing or lobstering. Wayne loved hockey, not only playing it, but being a fan and a critic as well. A great guy, he will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Johnson and his wife, Katherine, and their son, Tyler, and Michael Johnson, all of Essex; two brothers, Paul Johnson of Gloucester, Bruce Johnson and his wife, Linda of Essex; a sister, Amy Brooks of Rockport; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his two best friends, Jay Polley and Mike Jillson.
His visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. There are no services and his burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
