GLOUCESTER: William D. Powers, 76, husband of the late Catherine “Kay” A. Powers, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on October 2, 1939, he was the son of the late Robert and Lucy Powers.
He was a graduate of Rockport High School and had served in the U.S. Air Force.
As a young man, Bill had worked at the Cape Ann Tool Co. for many years and later for the Gloucester DPW until retiring in 1996.
He was a former member of the Gloucester VFW and the Gloucester Lodge of Moose.
Bill was a wonderful family man and dearly loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Sidlowski and husband Jon; his son, Thomas Powers and wife, Ann; grandchildren, Sara and Ryan Sidlowski; his brothers, Tom and John Powers; and his niece, Erin.
In addition to his wife, Kay, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael.
