Amy R.'s Story
Amy R. (Greene) Ambrose, 91, of Rockport, wife of the late James W. Ambrose Jr., passed away in the Den Mar Rehabilitation Center in Rockport on Monday evening, July 24, 2017. Amy was born in Ayer, Mass., on December 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Earl F. and Rosamond (Lougee) Greene. She graduated from Rockport High School and continued her education and graduated from the University of New Hampshire and worked for many years as a lab technician at Addison Gilbert Hospital. She married her husband and they raised three daughters in Rockport. They moved to Florida in later years, but when Jim passed away, Amy came back to her roots in Rockport. She was an avid reader, of just about anything and in years past she enjoyed puttering about in her garden. She always had cats and dogs around and even a guinea pig, although not overly fond of the little critter. She will be missed by her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Monique Connolly and her husband, Robert of Kittery, Maine, Susan Dinardi and her husband, Paul of Gloucester, Karen Story and her husband, Nels of Rockport; one sister, Mary Merchant and her husband, Robert of Florida; her first-born granddaughter, Lynn Shea of Saugus, who was loyal, faithful and attentive to her grandmother’s daily needs while in Den Mar; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves a good, good friend, John Duffy of Rockport, who took her on many outings and excursions. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Margery Pedroni and Nancy Dolloff.
In keeping with Amy’s wishes, there are no visiting hours or services and her burial will be held privately. Her arrangements are through the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA. Online condolences may be given at www.greelyfuneralhome.com.
