Anibal Emanuel's Story

Text size

Anibal Emanuel Senos, age 62, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his family.
Anibal was born on October 24, 1953, in Gloucester Mass., the son of late Jose Pereira Senos and Judite Torega Silva Senos.
Anibal spent his childhood in Ilhavo Portugal. In his teenage years, he came back to the United States and has since been a lifelong resident of Gloucester, Mass.
A devoted, loving father, and grandfather, Anibal will be remembered for his love of the ocean and marine life. Following his passion at a young age, he entered the fishing industry following in the footsteps of his father who also had a passion for the wide open sea. Anibal spent over 30 years working in the fishing industry. One of his favorite places to just sit and enjoy coffee was at the fish pier watching the boats come in. Anibal spent part of everyday he could by the ocean, frequently by the boulevard. He enjoyed walking by the ocean and taking in the fresh air.
Although Anibal spent most of his adult life in Gloucester, he also missed his childhood home in Portugal. For many years he has traveled yearly to Ilhavo where he would spend time with close family, friends, and enjoying the amazing Portuguese cuisine that he desired so much. Even since becoming sick, traveling to Portugal was something he refused to give up on. He made four trips back and forth in two years and would always tell his family stories about his latest adventure and his favorite meals.
Anibal is survived by his two daughters; Judith Fleck and her husband Jamie Fleck, Sofia Senos; grandchildren Abraham and Benjamin Fleck; his Brother Joao José Senos of Ilhavo Portugal, and nephews Miguel and Joao Senos of Ilhavo Portugal; aunts and many cousins.
He is predeceased by his beloved sister in law Maria Margarida Ramalheira.
A special thank you to the nursing staff at Golden Living and Care Dimensions for their compassionate care for all they have done.
