Anna C. (Villari)'s Story

Mrs. Anna C. (Villari) Allen, 101, of Gloucester, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Golden Living Center. She was the wife of the late Elmer C. Allen.
She was born in Gloucester, daughter of the late Salvatore and Theresa (Oreto) Villari. Annie attended Gloucester Schools.
She worked at the former Universal Cort, Beacon Marine, and North Shore Sportswear as a stitcher. She also worked for many years at Gortons of Gloucester, from where she retired.
Annie loved to sing and had a song for every situation. She enjoyed working in her yard and cooking for her family. Annie just celebrated her 101 birthday and was so proud of that accomplishment. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who loved her.
Anna is survived by her grandchildren, Michael A. Lasley and his wife, Linda of Gloucester, J. Peter Silva and his companion, Donna Lovett, and David A. Silva and his wife, Staci of Gloucester; her sister, Margaret T. (Villari) Scola of Gloucester; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hammond of Florida, Joshua Medeiros of California, John B. Wright, Lindzy Silva and Markus Silva. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Joel P. Silva, and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her children, Margaret T. Allen, Geraldine F (Allen) Silva, and Ann Carmen Allen; her siblings, Joseph F. Villari, Grace G. (Villari) Goulart, Frances (Villari) Price, Angela M. Villari, Josephine A. (Villari) Quinn, and Mary B. (Villari) Souza. She was also the grandmother of the late Christine E. (Lasley) Favazza and her husband, Anthony and great-grandmother of the late Damon M. Lasley.
Annie’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 12 p.m. There will be a time of visitation in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester prior to the Mass on Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
