Arthur's Story

ROCKPORT: Arthur W. “Babe” Bernard, 87, of Rockport, husband of the late Marguerite (Rich) Bernard, passed away on September 1, 2015. Arthur was born in Rockport on October 7, 1927, the son of the late Roger and Louise (Olson) Bernard. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator for years and then went to work for the Town of Rockport doing the same. Babe was always building, making or fixing things around the house for family and for friends. He will be missed. Babe is survived by his daughter, Debra Bernard; his son, Alan Bernard, both of Rockport; his sister, Shirley Blatchford of N.H.; his grandson, Peter Bernard of Gloucester, and a few nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Paul Bernard. His sidekick, “Lucy”, a 10-year-old, Jack Russell Terrier, will miss him very much.
