Attorney Richard's Story
Attorney Richard S. Brody, 85, of Gloucester entered into rest on Saturday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his loving family at his side. He was the loving husband to Pauline L. (Lyons) Brody with whom they shared 45 years of marriage.
Attorney Brody was born December 6, 1930, in Boston, son of the late Abraham and Ruth (Sternburg) Brody. He was a resident of Gloucester for the past 45 years and previously resided in Sharon. He was a graduate of Brookline High School Class of 1948. He went on to Suffolk University where he received his bachelor’s degree. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Suffolk Law School.
Richard was a very loving and kind person who enjoyed playing tennis. He began in his 50s and until his illness, was playing four times a week. He was extremely pleased that his tennis partners were so supportive during his decline in health. He also enjoyed all kinds of music, the theatre and traveling.
Attorney Brody was the founding partner of Brody, Prizer and Sibley Law Firm on Congress Street,in Boston for several years until his retirement in 1996. He began his career with Sal Safarri Law Firm in Boston and later joined the Packer, Mahana and Bay Law Firm on State Street in Boston.
In addition to his loving wife Pauline, Richard is survived by his children, Michael K. Brody and his wife, Lisa of Woodlandshills, Calif., Scott H. Brody and his wife, Donna of Dracut, Christopher J. Mourey of Gloucester, and Julie Mourey Rigazio and her husband, Rick of Arlington; his sisters, Eleanor Shamitz and her husband, Theodore “Teddy” of Brookline and Shirley Richmond and her companion, Norton Rosenberg of Singer Island, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Matt and Ben Brody, Samantha, Rachel and Gregory Brody. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sons, Avram Brody and William Mourey, Jr.; his sister, Irene Sherman and her husband, Harry; his brother-in-law, Charles Richmond; and his niece, Jessica Goodman.
Attorney Brody’s Funeral Service will be at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton St., Sharon, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial Observance will be Wednesday, June 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Thursday, June 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Brody’s residence.
