ROCKPORT: Audrey A. (Fears) DeMilia, 74, wife of the late James M. DeMilia of Rockport, passed away on Monday evening, March 28, 2016, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Gloucester on May 15, 1941, daughter of the late James and Martha (Christie) Fears.

Audrey was a graduate of Rockport High School, Class of 1959, and Newton Wellesley Hospital School, Class of 1962.

She began her career at the Addison Gilbert Hospital, working in the ICU nights, Steele II and then in the Emergency Room, retiring in 1998 after 37 years of dedicated service to the community.

Audrey enjoyed swimming, beaching with the girls, gardening and travelling to Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her faithful companion, Chester.

She is survived by her daughters, Betsy A. Manzelli and her husband, Michael of Hamilton, Kathy A. DeMilia, Traci L. Budrow and her husband, William all of Rockport; her son, James M. DeMilia Jr. and his wife, Jackie of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Brianna and Allison Manzelli, Ashlyn and James D. DeMilia III, Samantha and Derek Budrow; sister-in-law, Judith Micozzi and husband Vincent; brother-in-law, Peter DeMilia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Carrico; and four brothers, James, Bruce, Paul and Robert Fears.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joachim’s Church, Rockport on Saturday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made in her name to Thatcher Island Association, Post Office Box 73, Rockport, MA 01966; to Friends of Seacoast, Seacoast Nursing & Retirement Center, 292 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA 01930; or to the Rockport Alumni Scholarship Fund, care of Judi Harris, 21 Summit Avenue, Rockport, MA 01930.
