Bella J.'s Story

Bella June Sandler, née Bernhardt, formerly of Brookline, Gloucester, and Magnolia, passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer in Encinitas, Calif. Born in Boston, she married Eli "Alec" Sandler of Gloucester in 1945 where she raised her family.
Bella became interested in antiques and used furniture eventually opening her store "Bella's Used Furniture and Antiques" which became a fixture on the West End of Main Street for over four decades until her retirement at age 90.
She moved to San Diego, Calif., to spend the remainder of her days near her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Sandler of Vista, Calif., Maurie Sandler of Carlsbad, Calif., and Bruce and his wife, Michelle Sandler of Del Mar, Calif. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Brian and Daniel Sandler of Del Mar, Calif., and granddaughter, Aliza Rivera of Corte Madera, Calif.
