Benjamin “Buzzy” Bertolino, 94, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Born in Gloucester on December 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Angelo and Felippa (Parrinello) Bertolino.
From the time he was young, Buzzy had worked at the family shop, Bertolino’s Bakery in the Fort. He and his brother Joe ran the bakery for many years and was well known for their delicious Bertolino Bread.
Buzzy was a legend in Gloucester and well loved for his kindness and happy-go-lucky personality. He enjoyed traveling in his camper, especially taking trips to San Pedro, Calif. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his nephew, Jack Rallo; his special great-niece and caretaker, Enza Ciaramitaro and husband Vito; great-nephew, Angelo Rallo and wife Sandi; and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony Bertolino and wife Rose (Chiancola), Joseph Bertolino and wife Maria (Guarrasi), William Bertolino and wife, Virginia (Gallo), James Bertolino and wife, Lucy (Spaba) (Demitri), Frank Bertolino and wife, Carrie (Porper); his sisters, Rose Girardi Bertolino and husband, Vito, Josephine Masselli Bertolino; and niece, Josephine M. Rallo.
His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Saturday, November 26th at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church at 9:30 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
