WOBURN: Carolyn E. (Lentz) Johnson, 91, of Woburn, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Sunday morning, January 24. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Johnson, who died in 1995.
Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Carl H. Lentz, and the late Louise W. (Sweetser) Lentz. Carolyn was a graduate of Woburn High School, and the Fisher School in Boston. She lived in Woburn for most of her life, but also spent time in Gloucester, Rockport, and Bradenton, Fla. Most recently, she had been residing at New Horizons at Choate in Woburn.
Carolyn was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Woburn. She loved to travel, and also enjoyed spending time with her family. Carolyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Carolyn is survived by two sons and three daughters, Christine P. Johnson and her husband, Thomas Chavanelle of Deerfield, N.H., Paul C. Johnson and his wife, Rosalie L. Johnson of Woburn, Richard L. Johnson and his wife, Benardita B. Johnson of Barrigada, Guam, Nancy R. Paris and her husband, Steven Paris of Woburn, and Elizabeth L. “Betty” Russell and her husband, Robin M. Russell of St. Augustine, Fla. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and she was preceded in death by her lifelong friend, the late Thomas “Tim” DeRosa.
It was Carolyn’s request for her remains to be donated to the Harvard Medical School. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Sawtelle Hospice House, care of VNA of Middlesex-East, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
