ROSLYN, N.Y.: Carolyn M. Levine of Roslyn, N.Y. died on January 30 following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Lee R. Levine for 57 years.
Born and educated in Brooklyn, Carolyn married Lee during World War II and moved with him to California for his basic training. They moved back to the East Coast following the war and raised their family on Long Island.
Carolyn spent the rest of her life in Roslyn, happily involved with her family and community. She wrote a column for The Roslyn News, taught English as a second language, volunteered at St. Francis Hospital, and enjoyed the company of her many friends. She was an avid gardener and tennis player, and always a happy companion to her husband on their many trips throughout the world. No one could deliver a joke as well as she could.
She is survived by her two sons, Bill Levine (Carol) of Philadelphia and Ira Levine (Betsy) of Rockport; her two granddaughters, Rose Levine Wunsch (Oliver) of Cambridge, and Ruby Levine of Minneapolis; her brother, Larry Maslow (Sheila) of Sarasota, Fla., and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee R. Levine; her longtime companion, Leslie Rosencrans, and her sister, Ethel Maslow Waldstien.
