Charles F.'s Story

Charles F. O’Neil, 54, beloved husband of Vicki (Servidone) O’Neil, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Salem Hospital.
Born in Beverly, he was the son of Alma L. (Daly) McLaughlin of Gloucester and the late Thomas R. O’Neil, Sr. He was raised in Manchester by the Sea, graduated from Manchester High School, and attended Northeastern University in Boston.
Mr. O’Neil owned and operated Converting Machinery Sales for many years, which he started shortly after college.
A lifelong resident of Manchester by the Sea, Charlie had a passion for fishing and boating. He enjoyed cooking as well as working on cars and boats with his son. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage, he is survived by his son, Charles Joseph “CJ” O’Neil and daughter, Jennifer O’Neil, both of Manchester by the Sea; his mother, Alma L. (Daly) McLaughlin and her husband, Robert of Gloucester; three sisters, Jeanne Henriques and her husband, Peter of Peterborough, N.H., Kathleen O’Neil of Gloucester, and Carol A. Nelson and her husband, Scott of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Thomas R. O’Neil, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Hamilton and Kenneth A. O’Neil and his wife, Suzanne of Bradenton, Fla.; a step-mother, Carole O’Neil (Watson); a step-brother, Phillip Rowe of Manchester by the Sea; his mother-in-law, Victoria Servidone of Florida; his father-in-law, Joseph Servidone and his wife, Anne of New York; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Julia O’Neil.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, 62 School St., Manchester by the Sea, Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in the Rosedale Cemetery, Manchester by the Sea.
