Chester C.'s Story
Chester C. Swift of Gloucester, passed away on Friday July 29, 2016.
He was born in Gloucester to the late Chester and Lillian Swift on March 12, 1931.
He retired from the state of Connecticut Transportation Department. He was a member of the Gloucester High School Marching Band and a member of the National Guard for two years. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts with his son Bud and camping with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth H. Swift, son, Chester C. Swift, III, his second wife, Shirley B. Swift and sister, Shirley Johnson. He is survived by his daughters Tamme and Ray Durant and Elizabeth and John Mitchell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris and Susan Durant, Grace and Brandon Cash, John and Shannon Mitchell and Michelle and Jason Forinash and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Sarah. He is also survived by his sisters June Greenwood of Gloucester and Carolyn Roberts of Tampa, Fla.
Graveside Services will be in the Wesleyan Cemetery, Wheeler Street, Gloucester on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. For online condolences and register book please visit www.pikenewhall.com.
