Diane Marie Johnson of Gloucester, gracefully passed away on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at the Beverly Hospital following a brief yet extended illness while surrounded by her loving family. Diane remained 58.
Born on January 2nd, 1959 she remained the loving daughter of both the late artist, Richard E. Johnson and his beloved wife, the late Shirley A. Johnson of Gloucester. Diane attended local schools and remained a proud graduate of Gloucester High School on June 4th, 1978. Throughout her life, she continued her education and training in obtaining many animal care formal certificates including a service dog certification.
Diane possessed a unique zest for life. Throughout her life, Diane confronted and overcame tremendous odds with many of life's obstacles not usually seen by many.
She possessed an incredible love and dedication for her family and lifelong friends. She always contacted them in staying in touch, forever sending cards, making phone calls; whatever it took, in keeping in touch for all family member's events.
Diane possessed a special bond for animals. She worked for many animal shelters from locally, The Cape Ann Animal Aid all the way up to Dr. Hussey of North Conway. Often, she personally would take different animals home for grooming, bathing, walks, bonding, and love.
Diane also enjoyed music. An avid Beatles fan, she knew all their songs by heart, both together and later in their solo careers and actually saw former Beatle John Lennon close-up, while visiting NYC. She also received trumpet lessons from the late Antonio Gentile filling her home with the distinctive sound of youthful music.
Diane so enjoyed nature and the White Mountains in particular. She enjoyed Native American heritages and handcrafting jewelry, regalia, and dream-catchers.
She frequently participated in Mothers Earth Creations events in the White Mountains, Ossipee, New Hampshire.
Diane remained a true and trusted friend to all who knew her. Diane now remains at peace with her faithful service dog, "Iteka" who we all thank for many years of love, joy, and dedicated service.
Diane is survived by her immediate loving family members; her brother, Bryan C. Johnson and his wife, Nancy A. Lumbruno-Johnson of Gloucester, her loving; sister, Christine L. Johnson-Doucette of Amesbury, and her brother, David W. Johnson of Rockport. In addition, Diane's family also includes her affectionate niece and nephews, Bryan, Brandon, and Frank Johnson of Gloucester, Nicholas and Adam Doucette of Amesbury, and Alicia and Derek Johnson, of Saint John's the V.I. and Rockport and many fond friends she embraced dearly.
