Edna L. (Russ)'s Story
Edna L. (Russ) Cousins, 84, of Newburyport, died Tuesday evening, July 19, 2017, at Anna Jaques Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Cousins.
Born in Montgomery, Ala. on September 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Florence (Robinson) Russ and graduated from the Montgomery School District.
Edna had many creative hobbies including cross stitching, embroidering, cooking, and gardening. Above all else, Edna was an accomplished cook for Helen Moseley at the Moseley Estate, now known as Maudslay State Park. She proudly served up love throughout her life for her family, friends, and neighbors. With the Merrimac River at her doorsteps, Edna would take time to quietly watch the river in all its glory, with a different story to observe from day to day. Next to her family, it was her greatest blessing.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Cousins and wife, Roberta of Gloucester and Kenneth L. Cousins, Jr. of Newburyport; her daughter, Lisa A. Cousins of Newburyport; her step-daughter, Geraldine Palmer of Portsmouth, N.H.; along with her granddaughter, Rebecca Grove and her great-granddaughter, Madison Paisley Grove. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by a son, William H. “Billy” Cousins, who died last year on August 25, 2016.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, July 26, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, immediately followed by Funeral Services and burial at Highland Cemetery, Newburyport. Flowers will be greatly appreciated as would donations in her memory to the Anna Jaques Development Foundation, 25 Highland Ave., Newburyport, MA 01950.
