Elaine N.'s Story
Elaine N. (Wagner) Pina, 85, of Gloucester passed away gently on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Gloucester on October 4, 1931, daughter of the late Capt. Alden E. Wagner and Deolinda G. (Rose) Wagner of Gloucester and was the wife of the late Henry B. Pina, who was lost at sea in December of 1962 aboard the fishing vessel, “Austin W."
Elaine attended Gloucester Schools. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife, mother and a caring and compassionate friend.
A widow at 31, to support herself and her two sons she refused any aid and found employment at Gloucester’s Jodrey Fish Pier, then Gorton’s of Gloucester, from where she retired in 1997.
She enjoyed doing crafts, word search puzzles, rides along the coast of Gloucester, Rockport, New Hampshire and Maine, eating out, flea markets, yard sales, church fairs and antique stores, where she collected antique creamers and cut glass dishes.
Elaine was a longtime member of the Lodge of Pocahontas. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her two sons, with whom she resided, Stephen B. Pina and Henry B. Pina, both of Gloucester; grandson, Christian B. Pina of Las Vegas, Nevada; her feline companions, Penny and Tippy; many cousins and friends.
Her funeral service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Friday, September 22, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.
The burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gloucester.
