Elizabeth G. "Betty"'s Story
Elizabeth G. “Betty” Baker died on May 21, 2016, in Needham, Mass., after a long illness. She was 83. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles D. Baker; son, Charlie, his wife, Lauren, and their children, Charlie, AJ and Caroline; son, Jonathan, his sons, Christian and Chase, and their mother, Christine; and son, Alex and his husband, Butch.
Betty was born on December 24, 1932, in Rochester, Minn., to Ralph and Jean Ghormley. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1954. She married Charles in 1955 and they settled in Needham, Mass.
Throughout her life, Betty believed in supporting her community and worked tirelessly for many organizations, including METCO, the Career and Volunteer Advisory Service, Family Services of Greater Boston and the Voluntary Action Center.
There will be a private memorial service and interment.
