Elizabeth Bishop Weinland passed away peacefully in her sleep, on the morning of December 15, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Annisquam. She was 101 years of age.
A private burial will take place at Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem, Pa., with a memorial service in Woodbury, Connecticut in the spring of 2017.
Elizabeth was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on April 5, 1915, the daughter of Paul Herbert and Helen Rebstock Bishop. She was the wife of the late Rev. Dr. David E. Weinland, Pastor Emeritus of United Church-on-the Green in New Haven, Conn., former Pastor at Faith Congregational Church in Springfield, and former Vice-President of Salem College for Women in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn W. Lordan; and her four grandchildren, Joshua Lordan of Rockport, Mass., Elizabeth Lordan of Ipswich, Mass., Peter Lordan of Cambridge, Mass., Rebecca Lordan-Perret of Brugg, Switzerland; and her son, John David Weinland of Southbury, Conn.
Our mother was a devoted and diligent wife, mother and churchwoman. Her devotion to the church and her husband’s work spanned her lifetime while assisting her husband at pastorates in Springfield, Mass., and New Haven, Conn.
We will miss her dearly.
