Frances Mae's Story

Text size

Frances Mae (Carty) Tremblay (96) passed away peacefully in Mesa, Ariz. on Monday, August 29th.
She was born on May 15, 1920 in North Andover, daughter of Ira D. and Annie (Smith) Carty. She married Arthur N. Tremblay in 1944. She lived in North Andover before moving to Annisquam with her family in 1956. Fran was a member of the Annisquam Village Church, Annisquam Yacht Club and Annisquam Sewing Circle. In 1963, she became a realtor establishing the Annisquam Village Realty in 1972 located in the old Annisquam Post Office. She was past Treasurer of the Cape Ann Board of Realtors, past President and Vice President of the Annisquam Sewing Circle, member, past President and Northern District Director of the Beauport BPW Luncheon Club and recipient of the Woman of the Year Award. Fran retired from real estate in 1989 to join her family in Arizona. She spent her winters in Arizona and her summers in New Hampshire visiting Gloucester regularly. She was an active member of AA for over 40 years, an organization dear to her heart. She was noted for her community spirit, her love of people and family, and her "gift to gab."
She is survived by her four children, Norman Tremblay, Helenann Adams (Steve), David Tremblay, Lenny Tremblay; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Leonard W. Carty and former husband, Arthur N. Tremblay. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to her caretakers at Amanda's Care Home where she was deemed "Ambassador of the House." A title well suited. She has left a void in our hearts but a reassurance we will be together again.
A celebration of her life will be held at the home of her son, Lenny, in Mesa, Ariz. on September 10th.
