Francis P.'s Story
Francis P. “Frank” Degnan, 80, husband of Mary E. (Azevedo) Degnan of Gloucester, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 11, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gloucester on July 27, 1936, son of the late Edward S. and Margaret F. (Cummings) Degnan.
In his early years, he worked at Bomac in Beverly as an X-ray Technician and later at Gloucester Engineering as a stock room clerk.
Frank enjoyed coin collecting and travelling with his wife around New England.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Gloucester Council #215 and the Gloucester Lodge of Elks #892.
Francis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary E. Degnan of Gloucester; his daughter, Catherine E. Malin and her husband Frank of Old Saybrook, Conn.; his son, Andrew P. Degnan and his companion Mandy Milan of Gloucester; two grandchildren, Patrick and Christopher Malin both of Old Saybrook, Conn.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Edward and his sister, Margaret “Peg” Degnan.
His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Wednesday, November 16, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
